Falangists Militia

The Falange was a paramilitary facist orientated political organization which contributed many volunteers to the Nationalist insurrection, but whose troops, though motivated, had little training. Not as initially combat reliable as regular troops, Falangists were often used to garrison conquered areas. In later war scenarios, they improve their performance due to battle experience and training by the German Condor Legion.

Illustrations

From Left To Right:

  1. Falangist with "capote-manta" (long cape)
  2. Second Lieutenant provisional ("Subjefe de Centuria"), from the "Banderas de Navarra" (Bandera = Battalion)
  3. Falangists from the "Banderas de Navarra"

The most characteristic elements of the falangist's uniforms are the blue shirt toghether with the falange emblem: "El Yugo y las Flechas" (the yoke and the arrows). These militia men used their own rank stripes instead of the Nationalist standar stripes, as well as a different system to name both military units and ranks. Look at the Nationalist Army organization for more information on these topics.
